Cub Scout Basics
In 1907 Robert Baden-Powell founded a scouting program in the United Kingdom. He was interested in the outdoors and the positive impact that being in the outdoors brings to a child’s formative experience. Thanks to his personal experience in India, Baden-Powell’s relied on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book as a major influence for Cub Scouts: Dens are named primarily for the animals in the book, and the name used for the Cub Scout leader is Akela!
Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
Scout Motto
Do your best!
Essentials after joining our Pack
Uniform: although the complete “Class A” formal uniform is ideal, the most important part of the uniform is the shirt (blue for all younger ranks, khaki for Webelos in 4th & 5th grades) and neckerchief with slide, San Diego Imperial Council patch, and 650 patches. We gladly accommodate sensory differences in regards to clothing and can help you with the uniform. As Scouts outgrow uniform pieces, we offer a “rack in the back” to pass them along to younger Scouts. We also have a “Class B” Pack 650 t-shirt available for purchase. https://www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/cub-scout-uniform/
